Lion Pride was created as a new baby gift for friends. The buyer and I collaborated back and forth through photos of the progress until it looked "just right." Here represented is the new baby, teenage sister, mother and father. Clouds carry a welcome message, baby's name and date of birth.
"Cynthia, it took my breath away....Truth be known, I really don’t want to send it as a gift and would rather treasure it..but beautiful things are meant to be shared." A.T., New Mexico

The owner of two boxers saw my portfolio then asked me to create a picture of her dogs. Savannah always sat or laid on Rocky, who was born with a slight defect of the mouth. Flowers were included because the buyer has beautiful perennial gardens. Savannah was fanatical about chasing and trying to catch bees so a bee was added as well. The piece was framed in black with a double mat of muted gold and black which now hangs proudly in her kitchen.
"Working with Cindy on this commission was great and I was beyond thrilled when I saw the finished piece. She captured the personalities of my dogs perfectly. Definitely a piece I will treasure forever!" Kim S., Minnesota

My friend ordered a gift for her granddaughter's room. First she sent me photos of the family's chocolate brown labs. Then I sat down and sketched out a simple design. Several times I tried to change it, but I always came back to the first and best one. Vera is down on the floor with her "Nanny Dogs." She is crawling behind Petra who always wears a bandana and Dante sits watching. Vera's toys are scattered about the floor of her room. The blocks spell out a message from Grama and Grampa: We, Love, You.
The baby's parents were very pleased with the customized art for Vera's room. My friend said the expressions on the dog's faces matched their personalities even though I had not ever met the dogs.
"I had a feeling of what I wanted expressed through Cynthia's amazing paper art. I shared my vision with her, she got really excited, said she could see it also. The end project speaks for itself. Simply magnificent!!!" Ellen L., Wisconsin

Mitty and Angel are displayed on their cat-tree in positions often seen and with their two favorite toys, the stick with twirling feathers and a mouse. Angel's masculine and muscular form is captured not only by the outline but also by the designs in the paper. Mitty's femininity is shown through the dainty flowered Japanese paper and her fluffy body, as she sits watching Angel flex his muscles. The owner framed this artwork with a double matt of turquoise and textured off-white with a turquoise frame which looks stunning in her apartment of white walls and carpet.
"I love my artwork of Mitty and Angel! Cynthia's beautiful creation is displayed prominently in a place where I enjoy seeing it everyday. I now have it as the wallpaper on my phone and also on my computer at work." Fitzhugh C., New Mexico

This is a wedding gift incorporating water elements for a couple who love to surf and the coy fish are in remembrance of their wedding invitation. As the buyer and I discussed creating the wedding gift, she mentioned the groom is from Canada, the bride is from Long Island, and their sweet little dog was rescued on one of their trips to Costa Rica over the Christmas holiday, thus the driftwood in the shape of each location.
I used a new technique on this one....first I did a watercolor wash, then used transparency paper to print the Mary Oliver quote, and then on top of that glued the papers.
"Cynthia you did it again...... You met the vision I held in my mind's eye perfectly. The newlyweds dog Holly is often found cuddled on the couch asleep just below this masterpiece." Ellen L., Wisconsin
And from Ellen's niece: "She likes to nap under the good vibrations of this awesome artwork."

This special order was a request for lovebirds. I looked at photos of the couple and thought of the words she used to describe their personalities and the qualities of their relationship. All of this information, along with the colors each likes, swirled together into their “essence,” thus Love Birds, Owls was born.
